AFYAData exists to address the significant health challenges faced by low and middle-income countries, particularly those in Sub-Saharan Africa. These countries often struggle with limited access to healthcare, inadequate healthcare infrastructure, and a lack of reliable health data.
This makes it difficult to make informed decisions and take appropriate actions to improve population health. AFYAData aims to bridge this gap by generating health evidence that can be relied on when making decisions to improve health sectors, strengthen health systems, and improve access to health services.
The company was founded by Dr. Adinan Juma, who spent years working in research job positions and engaging with the Global research community. Through his experience, Dr. Juma identified the existing challenges and needs of Tanzania’s health data and research ecosystem. He realized that there was a need for a consultancy firm that could provide evidence-based solutions to improve population health, and thus AFYAData was born.
AFYAData’s mission is to support the development of robust and reliable health systems in low and middle-income countries. AFYAData provides a range of services to its clients, including project design, project and grant management, policy advice, third-party monitoring, and implementation research.
AFYAData work with a variety of partners, including research funders, governmental institutions, international organizations, colleges and universities, research firms, bilateral and multilateral donors, and philanthropic organizations.
